One new nurse?

Every year, at graduation time, friends of New Thing provide “Life Starter Kits” for orphans heading off to university.

Why? Because, as they “age out” of the Belarusian orphanage system, they must leave behind most of the stuff they’ve grown up with.

Here’s one of the orphan-graduates we’ll be helping this year.

Marina, 17, has been living at the Children’s Village in Kobryn since she was 7.

Marina has excelled in music (she nailed a certificate from a special music school), and she’s studied theatre too.

But most of all, she loves biology.

She’s hoping to be accepted into nursing school.

Marina’s Life Starter Kit will include bedding, towels, an iron, dishes, a laptop with a bag, mouse, flash drive, and a package of printing paper.

Each graduate’s Life Starter Kit includes what they’ll need uniquely.

Average cost: $642.50. (They used to be around $500, but sanctions-related inflation has increased prices.)

This year, 16 orphans are graduating from the Children’s Village. It’s a big challenge.

If you’d like to help, your donation will be much appreciated.

Thanks for journeying with New Thing!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
