The orphans have to leave

Graduation Day is fast approaching.

Ceremony, celebration, kids leaving home, heading off to college.

But for these 10 orphans at the Children’s Village in Kobryn, Belarus, it’s not so simple.

They’ve “aged out” of the foster system. They have to leave.

But they can’t take most of their stuff. It belongs to the state.

This is why New Thing provides “Life Starter Kits” for graduating orphans every year.

Each Kit contains a saucepan, a frying pan with a lid, a kettle, an iron, 2 towels (large and medium sized), a blanket, bed linens, a pillow, a throw rug, a study lamp, and printer paper.

Would you please help these orphans by making a donation right now?

  • A gift of $37.56 provides the blanket, pillow, and bed linens.

  • $39.84 provides all the kitchenware.

  • $77.40 provides all the bedroom and kitchen supplies together.

  • Maybe you could even give $135.48 to provide a whole Life Starter Kit for 1 orphan.

If we make the goal — $1,354.80, so all 10 orphans can receive a Life Starter Kit — two longtime friends of New Thing will donate an additional $5,720 to provide a laptop and computer gear for each orphan as well.

We’ve seen how crucial a laptop is for a young person entering college in Belarus.

But we have to provide the Kits for the laptop funds to be released.

So, for the sake of the orphans, I ask you to give whatever you can today.

I’ll keep you posted on our progress.

Thanks for journeying with us!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
