I got a message from our “Response of the Heart” team in Belarus:
Can we get the sleeper-sofas for the Children’s Village?
I really didn’t know what to say.
Over the past 5 weeks, 21 households have donated a total of $3942.38. (Thank you so much to all who have given!)
Every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar, but we still need $3057.62 to reach the $7000 Matching Challenge goal.
So yes, at the moment, we can provide 4 of the 7 sleeper-sofas.
But the orphans in the other 3 homes will have to wait.
How could our team decide which orphans get a “yes” and which get “no”?
I know there’s a lot of bigger, more important stuff going on in the world these days.
A sleeper-sofa doesn’t seem too significant, even if it’s for orphans.
But it’s important to these kids, and their house parents; so I’m hoping our New Thing family might be willing to close the gap.
Maybe we have 40 friends who could give $76.44?
Or if you could give $38.22, we could combine it with someone else’s gift to be 1 of those 40.
Or maybe you could be 1 of 20 friends to give a major gift of $152.88?
Anything you can give today will go twice as far because of the Matching Challenge.
Every $1 becomes $2. But we need to get to $7000.
You know we’re never heavy-handed about fundraising. But I would say today, please consider being a part of this.
I’ll keep you posted on our progress.
Thanks for journeying with New Thing!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
