Quick update: the children with disabilities at the boarding school in Osipovichi (pronounced oh-see-POE-vee-chee), Belarus, need our help.
They need things like B6 and B12 and multi-vitamins. Gauze and cotton balls. Medical gloves. Hydrogen peroxide. Amoxycillin and more than 50 other medicines.
Basic medicine-cabinet meds and supplies.
I remember the first time I asked friends of New Thing to help the kids there ... long before it became our annual Thanksgiving tradition.
Back then, in 2016, it only took 1,153.51 to provide an entire year’s worth of meds and supplies.
Today, it takes $6,000.
As I write this, 12 generous friends have given a total of $1171.93. If this were 2016, we’d already be celebrating.
But you and I both know, the world is a very different place today.
So with just 13 days left before Thanksgiving, we still have $4828.07 to go.
New Thing has always been a pretty close family; about 1500 people follow the work.
So here’s what I’m wondering: Are there 100 of us who would give $48.28 each, to help the kids at Osipovichi?
Or maybe you could give more, to make up for someone who simply can’t give that much.
In any case, I thank you for journeying with New Thing, and doing whatever you can to help the kids and their caregivers.
(If you’d like to “visit” the boarding school, here’s my photo report from the last time I was there.)
More adventures to come!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
