You know this already: A child cries for a reason.
A little guy fell down and hurt himself. Or a little girl has a headache from a stuffed-up nose.
We don’t just say, “Stop crying.” We act. It usually doesn’t take much.
A children’s Tylenol or a cute Band-aid goes a long way toward drying those tears.
But at the boarding school in Osipovichi, Belarus, it’s not so simple.
The Tylenol and the Band-Aids — in fact, all the ordinary everyday medicine-cabinet meds — come from far away.
From friends like you and me.
Every year for the past 7 years, on Thanksgiving Day, we’ve had the joy of sending a very special message to Director Larisa and her team...
the dedicated professionals devoting their lives to the care of some 80 children with physical and mental disabilities.
The message is simple: Another year’s worth of medicine-cabinet meds and supplies will be funded.
It’s a gift from the friends of New Thing. Our way of expressing thanks for the many blessings in our own lives.
I hope this year we can do it again. All the craziness in that part of the world has driven prices up. It will take a total of $6000.
So far, 18 generous friends have given a total of $1908.82. (Thank you!)
Can we close the gap by Thanksgiving Day? Less than a week away?
We like to keep our occasional little fundraising “campaigns” pretty low-key. But I think this is an especially important one.
We want the children — and those who care for them — to know we’re still with them in spirit.
So I’m humbly asking for your help today. You can give online here — any gift, large or small, will be a real help.
Or you can send a gift to New Thing, 403 Linebrook Rd., Ipswich MA 01938.
And whether you can give or not, I thank you for journeying with New Thing!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
