For Thanksgiving ... a Tylenol?

Kid scrapes a knee? You know where the bandages are.

Headache? Head for the medicine cabinet.

But what if your medicine cabinet is empty?

For 80+ children with physical and mental disabilities in Osipovichi, that’s how it used to be.

Workers love the kids at the boarding school, but they needed ordinary medicine-cabinet meds and supplies — aspirin, cough syrup, cotton swabs, disinfectants, ointments, everything.

So more than a decade ago, friends of New Thing began a Thanksgiving tradition:

It isn’t a Belarusian holiday, but every year at Thanksgiving, these workers are so thankful!

This year, a couple dear friends who love the children have offered us a terrific Matching Challenge:

  • If our New Thing family will donate a total of $3,250 by Thanksgiving Day, they’ll match it dollar-for-dollar to meet the entire $6,500 need.

Some of the children at this boarding school, now in their teens, have never taken an ibuprofen that wasn’t provided by friends of New Thing.

I hope you can be part of our Thanksgiving tradition this year.

Only 20 days till the Matching Challenge deadline — so please let me hear from you ASAP.

Thanks for journeying with New Thing!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
