This was the best 4 minutes of my day

I’ve been missing Belarus so much.

It’s been more than a year since I was last there.

I can’t remember a time, in 20 years, when I’ve been away so long.

But then this came ... a new music video, shot for the Advent season in Minsk, where our “Response of the Heart” team is headquartered.

(Our longtime friend Zhanna is one of the actors in the vid — she’s the one making the cookies.)

It’s a prayer song, but you don’t even need to understand the Russian to be moved by the music.

And such lovely glimpses of Minsk!

I want you to see it.

There’s one line in the the song that really hits home for me.

It says, “How many times have I fallen, but now I get up again.”

After a year of Covid, a year of turmoil, a year of so many struggles, this is Belarus.

People may struggle, but they keep getting up again.

Caring friends, supporting New Thing, help make this possible.

I’m grateful for so many compassionate hearts.

More adventures to come!

Thanks for journeying with us!

Much love,

Doug Brendel
