10 years ago this Christmas, Kristina was in Zhodino, at the shelter for abused and abandoned children.
(Belarus celebrates Orthodox Christmas 2 weeks after our Western Christmas, so this was January of 2014.)
Friends of New Thing have helped this shelter a lot down through the years ... more than any other institution in Belarus.
It’s a testament to your faithfulness and generosity that this shelter is, as friends in Belarus have said, a “jewel of the Republic.”
I thought you might enjoy going back to the fun of that day, just for a couple minutes.
Here are a few bits of homemade video shot by a member of our “Response of the Heart” team.
You’ll see children in the shelter, and in the “Domik” next door.
(The Domik is an after-school center for at-risk children in the area — also built by gifts from friends of New Thing.
The gifts that day came from the Samaritan’s Purse organization, brought into the country by “Response of Heart.”)
God bless all who have followed and supported New Thing for so long!
And to those who join us on this journey by giving a Christmas gift today, God bless you too!
More adventures to come!
Much love,
Doug Brendel
